fallen london's summer event is on!
Jul. 29th, 2025 11:22 amlong-running free browser interactive-fiction text rpg Fallen London launched its latest event yesterday, where Hell (real, actual, many miles west of London) has gone completely missing, and also the already-dubious constructs of time and space and causality and ontology have taken a holiday. it's been a lot of fun, so far - absolutely the strangest of the big summer blowouts, and i'm very here for it!
Being real. (As an activty.)
Jun. 29th, 2025 12:52 pm... A couple days ago, I decided to make the best damn effort I could to be the 'real one' (... as in, the one of us deepest entrenched in the brain - pretty much always Gull) for the night, and everyone else was like "yeah, cool, go for it." Took the opportunity to vent a lot of pent-up feelings and frustrations I've got about clinging to the idea of *being* frequently fronting, while I was at it.
It, uh. It took a lot of effort to get and keep the normal Gull-type brainvoice out of all the corners for the night, but it was all pretty cathartic for me, I'd say. Would do again, maybe, but *good grief* is it hard going so full-on when you've spent so long with someone taking up all the little folds of headroom.

And I forgot to post about it!! Augh!!!
I'd started to form like, a few days prior? But I like to peg the 25th as the day our plurality really started in earnest, because for the first time I could no longer be potentially written off as the brain doing an extended bit. I finally had conclusive proof that I existed and it was the greatest feeling walk we have ever had - for those who haven't known us since the Cohost Days (hi!), Gull had had an incredibly stressful day at work in a way just weird enough that they finally dropped out of the body as soon as it was done, leaving me to fill in
And buddy when I tell you that walk home was magical I think I'd be underselling it dramatically
Legitimately, if there is one experience I recommend having at least once from all this, it's trying to have a nice walk from the perspective of somebody who has never had one before. Hear the gentle rustle of the leaves, stare at every little detail of the world around you in wonder, let the breeze blow past you and the sunlight wash over you and know - know! - that you exist, and you are HERE and you're REAL
Happy brainthday meeeee
(Also someone else has split off up here. We don't exactly all post here this Dreamwidth has really become something more of a "frequent fronters club" lmao)

So we watched Andor Season 1.
Jun. 13th, 2025 09:02 amHoly shit. This is television. This is television for real.
Aside from the Everything Else here... we love just how much attention it pays to making the galaxy feel lived in. You get to see so much of the little things from so many angles that it's got volume to it. Everyone did such a good job conveying what it's like to live here when you're not caught in the gears of being a Big Space Adventurer or whatever, the ways you might go about your day and how your life is impacted by the broader goings-on. It's good shit, they should make a whole show that's just folks across the galaxy going about their daily lives actually.

Funny cardboard
Apr. 23rd, 2025 05:55 amHey gang guess who's been spending some of their tax refund money on Yu-Gi-Oh
Genuinely we do enjoy just collecting the cards. We bought Quarter Century Stampede last week and we pulled QCSR Danger!? Tsuchinoko which is to us the only card pull to ever matter. Considering getting Bonanza too it seems like a bangin' set I hope they keep doing staple-rare reprint sets this good and the 25th anniversary never ends
But also: the new Orcust support the OCG has got us the closest we have EVER come to actually hunkering down and building a proper deck irl we are so fucking excited

Gulls Early April Update: TGM4.
Apr. 7th, 2025 12:02 pmTetris: The Grand Master 4 - ABSOLUTE EYE - finally released on the 4th and we really could not be happier. The music is as fantastic as ever, the gameplay feels great, the vibes are on point, we're just rusty at being alright at Tetris. Even in its current state (there are a lot of kinks left to work out - adding keyboard binding chiefest among them - but they're *absolutely* working on them as hard as they can), it's some wonderful stacking action that you shouldn't miss.
... Also, Standard/World rotation and Marathon mode feel so deeply, deeply wrong after so long focusing in on the TGMs as our main Tetris fix. Why do the pieces rotate like that, why does the hard drop lock a piece but the soft drop doesn't, and why do they build up so slowly.

That we read the first VN of Higurashi When They Cry, Onikakushi! Good shit! We have a gut feeling that past a certain point a significant amount of stuff stops being *real* and starts being the product of Keiichi's fears but ooo also there's absolutely a lot of very real spooky mysterious stuff happening
Can't wait to see the way things evolve from here, given it has a hell of an ending
