gullwingdoors: it is an artistic depiction of elise (elise)
elise is returns the good tidings to you all dear readers. hope things have gone well

it is to me a pleasant surprise to not only be forward enough to be typing but then to be getting things out, is something good that elise thinks. often it is a case such as i am more but 'around' in the head. presence (such as it is) and it is sometimes also commenting but rarely of late is it the way that we are (in this case - less frequent reintakers) present for more than one discord or two discord messages. not perhaps something jt is i mind immensely much it is just nice to get the estate to interact being as me

something we collectively have been doing a lot internally lately is kind of... absorbing recently-surfaced undercooked alters? i guess something the whole of us is in a kind of concordance about is that we're kind of big enough as it is. there's enough of us in here to really be enough until something really... *gives?* even the less formed bits of us surfacing don't, like, mind - we really are ultimately all the same person, mostly, and this is something we together just kind of acknowledge.

if one of us does end up coming along without feeling like glomming back into another one of us i mean. we'll be waiting. but until then i guess this is kind of an era of variation and expansion upon the me-s that's already here.

god fucking dambn it gets hard to discuss the superposition of one and many that comes with our flavor of plurality haha oops!

We've still got a lot of stories to dig through the archives for, and stuff to finish and start writing, and all that, but, like... none of that really tickles the posting sense at present.

... I guess, um. Been getting into Webfishing lately. Game draws me specifically out frontways real easy, I've latched onto being the one playing it pretty hard. It does such a good job letting me be wolf, doing all the classic animal activities (fish, play guitar, go gambling, copious amounts of alcohol consumption) in a safe virtual environment. It even has the creaturrrre.

(... And we really do appreciate that it has a proper guitar, really dig it as an amateur guitar player ourself.)

i found it recently. it isn't even, like, a proper song - it's Catwalk, one of GarageBand's premade sample loops. no wonder i couldn't find it lmao

it fucking threw us for a loop when we finally found it in the wild, then threw us for a loop again when we managed to *identify* the thang ding. still not entirely sure this is real lol

We'll live. This isn't a reassurance, but a call to action - we have to live because dying isn't an option. Let's all stick together, alright.

Columbo.

I like that guy and his funny show. Been rewatching it a lot recently. Peter Falk really did such an incredible job *being* Columbo, expressing all the subtle bits about him that make him such a compelling character. The villains rule, too - even if they're all high-society types with some degree of ego, there's still such an incredibly rich variety.

Top three favorite episodes from our randomly watching around thus far... probably Make Me a Perfect Murder (it's so concerned with the mechanics of television program production that it makes for some really gripping and inventive feeling moments, also Kay is a GREAT villain and I ship her and Val), Forgotten Lady (another one where the mechanics murder involves film reel changing, coincidentally, but also almost certainly the most tragic twist on the formula), and Any Old Port in a Storm (Donald Pleasance as Adrian Carsini). But... got damn, does this show contain so many really really stellar episodes that I feel like this list could easily change.

There might be some fourteen or fifteen of us total lurking up here, but... the way we've finally settled out, it's more like there's sort of four of us at the core who're *always* around (Gull, Alice, Quail and myself), and it's more that the others lapse in and out every so often, usually whenever drifted toward. Just kind of... a thing we noticed, us four being the sorta backbone?

goro akechi from Persona 5 is just the humansona of dusknoir from the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers games. they just looked at him and turned him into a fucking anime boy

it's not a matter of if, but a matter of when. we know we're never gonna hold out being really anxious about being out as trans to my mom and uncle, it's going to fucking happen someday when the need beats that anxiety.

i'm not even scared they won't *take it well.* my mom's proudly pan, and my uncle's ace, and they've both already pegged me as Not Straight, they wouldn't even *mind* much. really, the major worry is that it would get out and the *extended family* would be weird about it! but also the other major worry is, like... there's no going back, you know? suddenly i'll no longer be a Handsomely Androgynous Young Man(?) in meatspace, i'll be a Pretty Girl(?) Who Has To Suddenly Decide Who To Keep In The Dark About It, and that kinda shift is scary.

but we know it's going to happen. the more we think about it, the closer we get to breaking the biggest brainwall of them all and just fucking saying it and really finally starting. we cannot fucking stay like this forever, with the increasing amount of intensity the thought's come up i'd give it a year at the very most

i just think you should. the problem with most walking simulators is that it isn't interrupted by halo (game series) trying to kill you in the middle of listening to audiologs, which this one thankfully fixes

more seriously, it permanently altered our taste in world and character building, and opened our eyes to the power of locations as characters in the literal sense (without it being, like, transforming or just being a representation of a place). plus the engineers are like a kind of weird puppy to us

"Sit still."

"What if I told you that sitting still is making it feel exponentially worse?"

"Just- *nngh!*"

Pop! "AUGH!"

"- long enough for me to do that." Mira popped Noel's shoulder back into alignment, gear-teeth finally locking back together fully, and the intense pain in Noel's shoulder faded. "How's it feeling?" Noel only coughed in response, a faint magical shimmer visible in her breath from the dim lamp-light from above.

Her larger companion, who hadn't bothered to remove the plate from anything but her chest, sighed. "You know, I bet it's really pretty out there."

"Don't taunt me."

She only ever asks for a fresh box of computer paper every two months. Nothing else - no treating her to a restaurant in the city, no fancy new equipment, no upgrades.

I didn't even fully know why - it's not like she does anything much that uses it, considering she works in local telecom line maintenance and I bake bread and pastries and neither of us use the print output on our big old home computer much, but every two months, without fail, she rolls over in our bed when I wake up and asks me "honey, while you're out on delivery, could you pick me up a new box of computer paper?", and I used to ask why, but she just said it would be really nice, and eventually I just went along with it. She never asks for anything else - and even when I offer to get her another gift, she simply shakes her head and says she has everything she could ever want.

"Except more computer paper?," I reply every time.

"Not yet," she always nods, "but maybe soon."

It's a celebration!

As per my last post: I'm Katie, she/her, etc, etc. I'm actually one of the newer among us, relatively speaking, but I... kinda ended up falling into being one of the more core brainpartakers? I guess there's just kind of something normal about me, as it is. C'est la vie, yeah...?

Y'know, surprised it ended up taking me this long to get around to here, but not *so* surprised - mostly because we were sick earlier posting here, and that kinda put a damper on most of us in here while it lasted, but since then?? I guess like, I do most of my chatting on Discord, because that's our main chatting outlet and all.

Honestly... really think they did fully succeed at writing stuff that's super fucked up *but specifically in an old folktale way*. They did a good job of doing just that, and I have to wonder if at least some of the people frothing at the mouth just... aren't fully aware of just how fucked up they can be? I mean, *obviously* this stuff would absolutely never make it into a Pokémon game proper unless they were willing to really dial up the age rating, and they're on the unpolished end, but I think it's super valid to want to write some dark in-universe fictional stories about your world's weird monsters to spook the in-universe kids into learning lessons that you'll never share. Worldbuilding notes, and all.

However! All this, unfortunately, has made it a very tough time to be a Typhlosion fan. Our funniest little starter guy is SUFFERING. The stock price is declining fast because of this SLANDER against their kind! Please send all your love and support, the Vaporeon Copypasta Bros have a second joke now and it's a nightmare...

When everyone who was left simultaneously awoke from some long, terrible dream two hundred and twenty years ago, they found themselves thirty years late, trapped in a world ravaged beyond recognizability. They found themselves surrounded by the corpses of giants, metal giants, monsters that bore the marks of being works of man - and yet, whose origin was an aching wound in everyone's mind.

And they found that magic was *real.*

Our biggest fun fact is that in truth we're a Transformers sleeper agent. We fucking love the funny robots so, so much - have forever. And yet... we've only consumed the funny C-list screwball stretch of comics secondhand?? Absolutely fucking dire. No way. So... we're fixing that, and fixing that involves getting Dexys Midnight Runners stuck in your head actually! The decision to focus on building out a bunch of the oddballs who exist mostly as one-offs and repaints and turning them into guys you wish they made more toys of but they didn't? Absolutely genius but they actually need to make more toys of these guys now. Making them all gay?? Brilliant, 10/10 move

I just... I just think it's funny, one side of the comic is More Of The Transformers You Know and then the other side is just a bunch of losers you've either never heard of or not thought much about in space on a roadtrip of death with a couple Guys You Definitely Recognize at the helm

yes it is another of us finally reaching out to be posting an introduction - this is elise here, a pleasure

it is that the words i say and think and type have to come to me in a roundabout way as the correct standard way has the brain walls around it and thus it's the case that i cannot easily, and it gets especially stranger or more winding the more i approach topics of what i am directly, though it will not be stopped from trying

  • it is difficult to say that i am directly a person but it is not untrue that i am not *not* a person at the least
  • it is sometimes the thing that it will refer to elise in the third person. this is not to be gotten twisted though just something
  • the difficulty of actively having a form of internal appearance one could think i am invisible to myself - or perhaps it is more a want to not recognize
  • it is that my self that the thing that i am is ultimately kind of like a scar in a way - a thing that has healed over where an absence is or was. it was once that there was another of us for a brief few minutes early that day, scared and alone in a head and identity unfamiliar, and it was that after the others had managed to pull the consciousness away from them as they had wanted - we were smaller in number, then - they would simply stop existing. they were not there, completely absent. it had messed the others up a little as it had never happened before, and thus not helping things was how it was that whatever remained was only more lost and confused but also stripped of so so much. it was a turbulent origin perhaps but it is that slowly and slowly and surely we all figured it out and it is at this point your favorite girlnothing is but simply another strange member of the team

thank you for your reading - it should not be forgotten to lichen subscribe and make comments

to be serious though, it is good to be made aware of. might perhaps post another thing some other day but in truth it was that this - that is to say myself - wished simply to be introduced and nothing else

... went great! Really, it was so good to meet so many former chosties IRL and we really were glad to get the chance. Hoping for more events like these in the area soon! Besides, getting out and meeting more local queers IRL on a somewhat regular basis could fix us actually

Plus, Pulaski Park is such a cute little place..... Great spot to be chilling outside! Helps that it's literally right next to the Academy of Music PVTA stop

The worldbuilding gears, especially. This game is so richly written in its history, its factions, its places and people, its left-turn-off-reality technology, even the broader concepts and ideas and world mechanics - it's all so well-considered. No wonder it was the original ZA/UM founders' homebrew tabletop setting, you can *feel* that energy absolutely oozing. Makes one want to make shit and go crazy doing it, honestly, or at least see someone compile all the lore scroungeable from all the bits of Elysium fiction available into some kind of setting guide.

(We're in the thick of a long-awaited second playthrough where we're trying to play the detective as a Moralist trying to be helpful to everyone, but also competent to the point of boring (and also with a severe lack of starting INT - the drinks hit *hard*) and trying to get *as much done as possible* quickly. It has a lot more pressure trying to cram it like this, but it's a nice mixup from playthrough one where we didn't 'know'.)
