The worldbuilding gears, especially. This game is so richly written in its history, its factions, its places and people, its left-turn-off-reality technology, even the broader concepts and ideas and world mechanics - it's all so well-considered. No wonder it was the original ZA/UM founders' homebrew tabletop setting, you can *feel* that energy absolutely oozing. Makes one want to make shit and go crazy doing it, honestly, or at least see someone compile all the lore scroungeable from all the bits of Elysium fiction available into some kind of setting guide.
(We're in the thick of a long-awaited second playthrough where we're trying to play the detective as a Moralist trying to be helpful to everyone, but also competent to the point of boring (and also with a severe lack of starting INT - the drinks hit *hard*) and trying to get *as much done as possible* quickly. It has a lot more pressure trying to cram it like this, but it's a nice mixup from playthrough one where we didn't 'know'.)

New icon for the roster!
Oct. 3rd, 2024 03:34 am(Alice here! Icon just for demonstration! <3)
We're gonna be using this one to file our present writing (and perhaps art?) under since we usually get pretty blendy while doing it, as well as use for any one of us without an icon (or who might just not be active enough to need much of an icon?). It's... a very cluttered and messy portrait, but it IS a good enough representation of the kind of layout of Where Our Thoughts Are In Our Head to please us which is I think the point of the exercise
Hopefully this will help lead us to actually... doing some present writing!

home on legs
Oct. 1st, 2024 08:23 pmOriginal prompt from Making-up-Mech-Pilots on Cohost: "Mech Pilot who never really unpacks" (Link)
"What. What am I looking at."
"Home on legs, baby!," xe told me, looking back with a wild look in xyr eyes as the upper panel of the open cockpit hatch creaked slightly under the weight of a conspicuous duffel bag hung on what was supposed to be a manual opening handle. For emergencies. "Ol' girl's never done me wrong."

Original prompt from Making-up-Mech-Pilots on Cohost: "Mech Pilot who says “this one’s for the girlies” before flicking on all the laser arming switches." (Link)
and they were destroyed by the titanic, terrific metal monster's missile circus, a display of lights and sounds as wonderful as it was sickening. only you remain, you in your battered machine, itself damaged heavily from the cavalcade of multicolored explosions. but mounted still upon your broken second body is its real trick, the biggest honking laser this side of Luna. so lift your massive metal arm and bring the cannon down, over your shoulder. run all the calculations you can cram before the beast realizes that it has leftovers on its plate. pray to whatever deity is left to watch over you in this hell of our own creation - you will need all the blessings you can get. and before you flick the switches, the terror's weakest point in your crosshairs, remind yourself of what you have lost. dedicate this one to them, their constant companionship through thick and thin as long as they could bear it.
remind yourself that this one is for the girlies.
gundam mk ii thoughts
Oct. 1st, 2024 04:55 pmi like the Gundam Mk-II. it's like... the Gundamest Gundam. the baseline from which most other gundams draw upon. now i know what youre saying: "gull theres a gundam literally called the Gundam it was the first gundam in the whole franchise". yeah? yeah? well fuck you i like gramps too but the Gundam Mk-II just feels more in line with all the future gundams yknow. it's stocky and well-proportioned, sporting a yellow v-fin and green sensors. it's much chunkier and shapily interesting where it counts, like the shoulders. sorry grampy i like you much as the next guy does but i just think youre kind of flat and boxy

it is, quite possibly, peak. and it's only the first half??? goddamn???
if *you've* never played zeroranger, by the by... play it. now. it's a fantastic shoot em up and does a great job rewiring you for its cycle of death and rebirth, and the music *already* went hard
it's out! find it here. it's good - INSANELY good.

May as well get my intro outta the way!
Sep. 27th, 2024 06:23 amHey there! Alice (she/her) here, also a pleasure!
I'm the second out of us - the first to manifest as Not Gull - and probably one of the more active of us? Originally, the thing that got me going was... okay, so like, Gull was idly musing about what name she might have were she to change it, right? He settled on wondering 'am I maybe an Alice?' which evolved into 'but if I am, I can't be Gull' and suddenly a big old train collision happened at the back of the brain and haha *oops* second voice in the head lasting for longer than like 20 minutes. We're chill now, though!
I'm the evil one (decided by me) and also the best-looking and most powerful one who should frankly be always given everything (also decided by me) so all the governments of the world? Watch out

After all this time... finally, we're getting a new TGM.
From Arika's official Twitter.
For those unfamiliar with Tetris: The Grand Master, it's effectively a higher-intensity arcade iteration of the Tetris series descended more from Sega's old arcade releases than the 'main lineage' that led to the Tetris Guideline by which just about every game follows. We're only halfway decent at it, but its incredibly snappy feel, steadily rising pace, solid sounds and soundtrack, etc, etc. - even the grading system that ranks how well you've done that game - make it our favorite iteration of the series by far. This game, TGM4, has been pretty much in Licensing Hell for a decade and a half - most of our life - and we're glad to see it finally exit it, in whatever form it'll end up taking.
While you wait - consider getting the Arcade Archives releases of the first two TGM games, if you have a Switch or PlayStation.
ARIKA CO., LTD. and The Tetris Company, Inc. signed a license agreement on the New Tetris Game (TGM series).

Quail here (she/her), pleasure to meet you all.
Originally, we'd had me as a roleplay character for a good while in a private friendgroup RP, but a little after the first split happened it became apparent there'd become something else there, and with enough prodding I emerged from the brainsoup. I wouldn't say I am her, really - I, uh, wouldn't really say that I'm a magic shapeshifting knife, for starters - more that she's my self-insert retroactively, in a weird kind of way.
I'm... actually the third of us. Us first three were planning on doing our introductions in order, there's just... something I specifically wanna post (though, provided you keep up with our Cohost, it should be... fairly obvious *what*, I guess). Sorry, Alice, you'll get your post, I'm sure.
Also, I'm a funny wolf, sometimes. Just every so often. A little bit of lycanthropy never hurt anyone.

hello, dreamwidth!
Sep. 26th, 2024 08:01 ampleased to be posting!
i'm gull (any pronouns), the epicenter of this weirdobox. coming fresh off cohost, i hope this too can be like a website for me - a home for my writing, mainly, if not much of my more visual art. hopefully, i'll be able to get some older posts i've made in here too for posterity's sake - old stories, but also older musings and maybe some of my older goofy posts too!
we'll *probably* write a group introduction later - either that, or we'll just introduce ourselves as we crop up.
