i like the Gundam Mk-II. it's like... the Gundamest Gundam. the baseline from which most other gundams draw upon. now i know what youre saying: "gull theres a gundam literally called the Gundam it was the first gundam in the whole franchise". yeah? yeah? well fuck you i like gramps too but the Gundam Mk-II just feels more in line with all the future gundams yknow. it's stocky and well-proportioned, sporting a yellow v-fin and green sensors. it's much chunkier and shapily interesting where it counts, like the shoulders. sorry grampy i like you much as the next guy does but i just think youre kind of flat and boxy

From the comments:

"i totally agree. nothing else really looks like the rx-78, but everything looks like the mk-ii, but with increasingly more...stuff. meanwhile, the mk-ii hangs around for like the whole UC, not drawing too much attention to itself, just getting shit done. an everyman's gundam."

exactly! the RX-78 may be where the gundam starts but the mk ii is where the gundam is... complete? solidified? cemented? whatever, it's the one that would most effectively nail what a gundam is. most gundams that were designed after it, UC and AU alike, tend to take their cues from its design as the hallmarks of a Gundam. and this is why the gundam mk ii is the gundam which i have the most seperate gunpla of (at three. unless you're willing to lump the TR-1 Hazel in with the GM Quel, in which case i have four seperate quel-hazel models which beats my gundam mk ii count by one)

i said like half of this in the post already oops. whatever
